Bruce Putterman has served on the West Hartford Board of Education since November 2003, and is currently the Board Chairperson. In 2008 / 2009 he chaired the Superintendent Search / Leadership Planning Committee whose work culminated in the hiring of Dr. Karen List as Superintendent.
Professionally, Bruce provides strategic planning, marketing consulting, strategic marketing planning, communications management and execution, market research, and marketing due diligence services to a wide range of for profit companies, nonprofit organizations, and public sector agencies. He has owned and operated his own strategic planning and marketing consulting business since 2000.
Within the for profit sector, he has consulted with private equity, health care, industrial / business-to-business, consumer goods, utilities, and consumer services companies. His nonprofit experience includes education, health care, social services, human services, housing, domestic violence, museums, youth services, the arts, the environment, foundations, and faith-based organizations. He has public sector experience in tourism, economic development, education, and health care.
Mr. Putterman began his career in New York City in 1984, working in strategic account management for marketing-oriented advertising agencies Saatchi & Saatchi and D’Arcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles. His clients included Procter & Gamble, Tyson Foods, and M&M / Mars. In the early 1990’s, Mr. Putterman moved to Connecticut and worked at O’Neal & Prelle, a strategic marketing agency, and then at Fox and Company, a national marketing consulting firm. During that time, he consulted for companies ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups.
Besides his service on the Board of Education, Bruce is Vice President of ASCONN (formerly the Autism Society of Connecticut). He is a past president of West Hartford Community Television, coached Little League baseball for four years, and is an active member of Beth El Temple in West Hartford.
Bruce received a Bachelors of Arts degree in History and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Cornell University. He lives with his wife and three children in West Hartford, CT.
