Mission

The mission of the Department of Technology is to provide students with contextual experiences in a challenging, activity-based environment that will:
  • Increase academic achievement
  • Develop technological literacy, skill, and proficiency
  • Provide opportunities to demonstrate leadership skills
  • Assist students in becoming adults who are well-prepared for family life experiences
  • To provide students with career awareness and viable pathways for post-secondary education, and entry into the global, dynamic workplace

 

Goals

The Department of Technology, as a comprehensive, competency-based instructional program, will enable students to:

  • Apply mathematics, science, reading, writing, social studies and computer skills as a part of classroom activities
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and technical skills needed to participate as informed members of society
  • Become educated, experienced decision makers
  • Participate in open-ended, problem-based design activities that reflect reality in the workplace
  • Apply knowledge and processes to real world experiences using up-to-date resources
  • Demonstrate individual creativity and achievement
  • Work as productive members of a team to solve problems
  • Be equipped with skills that could be used to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities
  • Develop career awareness and identify multiple career pathways
  • Practice personal responsibility and ethical behavior
  • Develop personal and professional time management and communication skills
